As part of 'Survival: Fight of Flight' on display at Mundaring Arts Centre 6 April - 19 May, artists Peter Dailey, Bev Iles, Patricia Tarrant, David Small, Denise Brown and Cathy Swioklo will discuss their work in the exhibition over a series of three free events.
Peter Dailey and Bev Iles | Sun 7 Apr | 1 - 2pm
Join Peter Dailey and Bev Iles as they explore their responses to Survival: Fight or Flight. Peter will unpack his use of paint to create images that question the issue of survival for all living things. Bev will talk through her use of recycled building materials as she explores the precarious concept of shelter under threat from natural disasters.
Patricia Tarrant and David Small | Tue 9 Apr | 11am - 12pm
Both are exhibiting paintings that explore the state of flux between the shrinking natural environment and our human made environment. Hear from the artists as they examine vulnerable flora and fauna that are constantly under threat.
Denise Brown and Cathy Swioklo | Sun 14 Apr | 1 - 2pm
Denise Brown and Cathy Swioklo will share insight into their artworks which look close to home when exploring the concept of survival. Denise, through her use of pencil drawings, gives a personal perspective of a domestic environment under threat of violence. Using pit fired ceramic sculptures and pastel drawings, Cathy responds to an ever present fear of a bushfire.
