Event Description

Residents are invited to register for a free Birds in Your Garden workshop on Saturday, 27 July from 9.15am to 12.30pm. The presenters are Rachel and Mike Green of the Darling Range Branch of the WA Naturalists Club.
Rachel and Mike will explain what different birds look like, what features to look out for when identifying them, what birds eat, how to use birdbaths, bird perches, bird books, binoculars and bird boxes, and more. There will be a special segment on how to attract birds to your garden, and what plants, food and conditions they need.
You can bring photographs of birds in your garden, park or reserve if you want them identified. Rachel and Mike will include photographs specifically taken in the Shire of Mundaring and give you a bird list of all the birds seen in one hour at a key location in Mundaring, to help you start your own bird list. They’ll bring along binoculars and bird books, a bird bath, a bird perch, a bird box, a list of bird books, a list of flower books, and other equipment, and leave you inspired to know and care for the birds in your garden, street or reserve.
Rachel and Mike Green are mad keen on birds and have a property in the Perth Hills which has received “Land For Wildlife” status because of the number of birds recorded on it, a total of 69 so far. They have planted a 2+ acre garden of local Western Australian plants specifically to encourage birds and other wildlife into their garden. And have succeeded! They promise not to be boring! They will leave you inspired to identify, understand, and care for the birds in your garden, street or reserve.
Please join us – it’s FREE – you’ll even get morning tea provided. See you there – but you must book in as there is a limit on numbers. Once the numbers are reached we will form a waiting list – so get in early!
Registrations on the day from 9.15am - we start at 9.30am sharp - please don't be late!
