Shire of Mundaring is set to embark on the development of an Age Friendly Informing Strategy that aims to provide guidance and actions to support the creation of an age friendly community. The intention is to relate the strategy to the World Health Organisations (WHO) Age Friendly Cities Framework eight outcome areas:
1. Outdoor Spaces and Building
4. Social Participation
5. Respect and Social Inclusion
6. Civic Participation and Employment
7. Communication and Information
8. Community Support and Health Services
The availability and quality of these eight outcome areas affect the well-being of older adults. With an ageing population the Shire is keen to explore how our community can be more liveable and friendly for our older adults.
The purpose of the Age Friendly Informing Strategy is to provide a five-year action plan that identifies key priorities, future services, aspirations and community activities that support and enhance the health and wellbeing of older people living, working and visiting the Shire of Mundaring.
Service providers within our community are invited to attend this focus group to explore each of these domains and the areas that are working, and those that are proving a challenge, within the Shire. We are seeking people willing to share their ideas on how to build a stronger connected community and their vision for the Shire of Mundaring and our older adults.
If you are able to attend this focus group session, please RSVP to Paula Heath - firstname.lastname@example.org
or phone 9290 6682.
If you are unable to attend, please ensure your views are captured by completing a short online survey. The survey can be accessed via the Engage Mundaring tab from the Shire's home page.
