Snapped! Historic Photography Competition

Snapped! Mundaring Historic Photo Competition winners announced!

The Open Award winner is Jan Pittman who submitted the photo of the Mundaring Rotary Club's Small Farm Field Day held in about 1980. The Small Farm Field Days were held on the Mundaring Oval. Pictured are Gary and Stuart Pittman, and Bill, Wes and Jon Gregory. The judges said it was a wonderful photograph with lots of energy, and it recorded a type of event once common place in our Shire, agricultural shows! These types of events were held on areas that are still accessible to the public.

The People's Choice Award winner is Richard Nieuwhof's image of Mundaring Weir on a misty morning in 1996 when the Weir last overflowed. The image of the Weir certainly captured people's hearts.

Many thanks to everyone who submitted images for this inaugural competition! It was wonderful to see so many places and events captured across the decades, from  tennis being played in Darlington in the 1930s and Glen Forrest in the 1950s,  picnic trains on their way to the Weir in the 1940s, swimming at Bilgoman in the 1990s, to a poignant Anzac Day parade in 1953 in Glen Forrest, and so much more.

The photos can viewed in the Historic Competition Photo Album on the libraries' Facebook page here.
