Community members and groups were celebrated for their outstanding contribution to the local area, at Shire of Mundaring’s Celebrating Community event on Monday 5 December.
Of the 24 recipients, there were 11 Inspirational Volunteers, seven Long Service community champions, five Rising Stars and one Access Mundaring recipient, who were acknowledged for their significant contributions to the community.
Shire President James Martin congratulated all recipients for their dedication.
“This year we have seen a diverse range of individuals recognised for their valued contribution,” he said.
“From long serving volunteer bushfire brigades, to young people making a difference within their clubs and sporting groups, to inspiring Resident and Ratepayer Association members.
“I want to sincerely thank each and every one of our volunteers and groups who have made a significant difference over the year.
“Without your time and dedication, it would be difficult to provide the wide range of initiatives that are delivered by volunteers across our community.”
The Shire’s Celebrating Community event is held each year to coincide with International Volunteer Day on 5 December, and is supported by Department of Communities through the Thank a Volunteer Day grant program.
