LOCAL residents can once again enjoy free, outdoor movies close to home this summer with the return of the Shire's popular Cinema Under Starlight series.
Beginning in the school holidays, five movies will be screened at local ovals and parks in January, February and March.
Shire President John Daw said the events were a great opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a night out.
"What better way is there to spend a summer's night than watching a movie under the stars with your family and friends?" said Cr Daw.
The events have grown increasingly popular in recent years with the series attracting 1370 movie goers in 2018.
"It is with great pleasure that Shire of Mundaring will once again offer this fun, free activity to the community," said Cr Daw.
"This year's season is made possible thanks to the support of Lotterywest, Perth Airport, Linley Valley Pork, Acciona Trility Joint Venture, the Mundaring Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, and Australia Post".
The 2019 program includes the following movie screenings:
Saturday 12 Jan (Mundaring Rec Ground) – Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (M)
Saturday 19 Jan (Brown Park, Swan View) – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (PG)
Saturday 2 Feb (Elsie Austin Oval, Mt Helena) – Captain Underpants (G)
Saturday 23 Feb (Wooroloo Primary School) – Smurfs: The Lost Village (G)
Saturday 9 Mar (Darlington Oval) – Wonder (PG)
Gates will open at 6.00pm and screenings will start at sunset. Entertainment will be provided before each movie and a selection of snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. Movie-goers are welcome to bring a blanket and/or low-backed chairs to sit on.
