SHIRE of Mundaring's Local Government Elections were held on Saturday, 21 October and the results are now available.
In the Central Ward, two candidates were contesting one Councillor vacancy. Newcomer Toni BURBIDGE received 57% of votes. Bob Perks received 43% of votes.
In the East Ward, three candidates were contesting one Councillor vacancy. Kate DRIVER received the highest number of votes (40%) with Patrick Bertola receiving the second highest amount of votes (32%), followed by Syd Bignell who received 28% of votes.
In the South Ward, four candidates were contesting two Councillor vacancies. Newly-elected Darrell JONES received 37% of votes, followed by current Shire President David LAVELL who received 27% of votes. Simon Vito received 24% and John Harris received 12% of the total number of votes.
In the West Ward, six candidates were contesting two Councillor vacancies. Newcomer Jason RUSSELL received 868 votes, followed by Ian GREEN who received 650 votes. Matthew Corica received 637 votes, Pauline Clark received 608 votes, Tony Cuccaro received 477 votes and Richard Stuart received 350 votes.
The 2017 election result means we say farewell to former Deputy Shire President Patrick Bertola (East Ward), Cr Bob Perks (Central Ward), Crs Clark and Cuccaro (West Ward). Shire of Mundaring would like to sincerely thank them for their dedicated years of service to our community.

Shire of Mundaring will hold a formal swearing in ceremony on Monday, 23 October at the Shire Administration building where the Shire President, Deputy President and newly elected Councillors will make a declaration of office.
