Expressions of interest in the Shire's Seedlings for Landcare Program have now closed for 2020.
Shire of Mundaring's Environmental Team has been busy processing over 200 applications for free native seedlings to assist with the restoration of degraded bushland and creek lines, and help re-establish wildlife corridors through the program.
Shire President Councillor John Daw said due to COVID-19 restrictions volunteers will not be handing out seedlings this year.
"In order to maintain the safety of community and staff, seedling collection will take place from the Shire depot with social distancing requirements being arranged and monitored by Shire staff.
"Successful applicants will be sent a letter in the next week confirming their seedling requests and a collection date and time."
Councillor Daw said despite the disruptions caused by COVID-19, the program remains popular among residents and groups.
"It's wonderful to see how passionate community members are about caring for their local area and keeping our Hills community beautiful.
"We appreciate all the hard work our volunteers do and look forward to welcoming them back in the near future."
Expressions of interest for next year's program will open in February 2021.
