Shire President John Daw said the summer program, run in conjunction with various artists, teachers and professionals, was a great way to keep young people active over the school break.

"The Shire is pleased to work with passionate individuals and organisations to deliver a variety of activities to our young people," said Cr Daw.

"The workshops are designed to appeal to a diverse range of interests and keep young people engaged mentally, physically and socially over the holidays."

Professional dancer Jessica Newell will kick-start this year's program with two hip-hop workshops. Having choreographed and danced internationally with some of the best in the business including Kesha, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Timbaland, Neyo and more, Ms Newell said she was passionate about teaching dance to younger generations.

Next up, budding young skaters will have the opportunity to get tailored coaching in two gnarly workshops by Freestyle Now on 10 and 18 January.

Freestyle Now co-founder Shaun Jarvis said, "The Freestyle Now skate park coaching sessions are a great way to learn new levels of confidence and skills.

"Our facilitators work with the skate park participants on their own level to achieve the best goals of 'radness'".

Cr Daw encouraged young people to use the Shire's holiday program as a chance to try something new.

"The workshops are not only a lot of fun but they're a great way to try something different and maybe even discover a new interest or hidden talent," he added.
