‘Change Makers’ in the Shire of Mundaring will be celebrated this National Volunteer Week (NVW), run from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 May.
To celebrate the week, the Shire will promote five short videos which were sponsored through grant funding from the Department of Communities and Volunteering WA, on its social media platforms.
Shire President James Martin said he was proud the Shire was able to recognise its local volunteers who donate valuable time to their community groups and organisations throughout the year.
“It is important that we recognise our local ‘change makers’. Thank you to all volunteers,” he said.
“During the 2021/2022 financial year, there were 6018 volunteers in the Shire.
“During this period, 250,000 hours were contributed by the Volunteer Bushfire Brigades, and over 6000 annual hours were also volunteered across the Shire’s libraries, Visitor Centre, and Hub of the Hills."
Volunteer Videos
The short videos highlight the important work volunteers do in community groups and organisations across the shire including Mount Helena Junior Football Club, Mundaring Girl Guides, Mundaring Toy Library, Friends of Swan View Railway Heritage Trail and Parkerville Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade.
The volunteer videos will be featured on the Shire’s Facebook and Instagram pages, with a longer version available for downloading on the Volunteering page on the Shire’s website.
