Shire of Mundaring welcomed Claire Hurst as the new East Ward Councillor following the Extraordinary Council Election on Friday 1 July.
Claire Hurst received 458 votes, followed by Kate Driver who received 284 votes.
Shire President James Martin said that the extraordinary election had gained a lot of interest from the community and thanked the seven candidates who nominated for the East Ward seat.
“Congratulations to Cr Hurst on being elected to Council,” he said.
“On behalf of the Council, we look forward to formally welcoming you and working with you over the next 15 months.
“Extraordinary elections don’t take place regularly in our Shire and it has been a pleasure to see community members taking an interest in nominating for Council.”
Cr Hurst was officially sworn in as Councillor following the results on Friday 1 July.
