Fight the Bite this Autumn

Shire of Mundaring residents are urged to check their properties for mosquito breeding sites following a slight increase in mosquito-borne Ross River Virus cases in the area.

It is important that residents help to reduce mosquito breeding in the shire.

Mosquitoes cannot breed without water as they like to lay their eggs in fresh or salty water.

Residents are urged to check their properties for potential breeding sites including pot plant drip trays, gutters, ponds, pet water bowls, old tyres, rubbish, containers and pools that have not been maintained.

Residents can also protect themselves from being bitten by avoiding being outdoors during increased mosquito activity, such as at dawn and dusk; wearing loose fitting clothing that is light coloured; covering your arms and legs and applying insect repellent containing DEET.
