Community groups in the Shire of Mundaring seeking funds to purchase small equipment, training or promotional material can submit an application for the Shire’s General Purpose Quick Grants this month.

The second round of funding for this financial year will open on Friday 22 April, allowing groups to apply for up to $500.

Shire President James Martin said the grant was one of seven different grants available throughout the year for community groups to use.

“Quick grants are available for general purposes, including materials or small projects that would benefit the community,” he said.

“I encourage community groups who are interested in applying to discuss their ideas and options with the Shire’s Community Capacity Building Officer before applying.

“They can either email ccbo@mundaring.wa.gov.au or phone 9290 6678 to discuss.”

New uniforms for Basketball Club

Last year, the Parkerville Kangaroo Basketball Club was granted a $500 Quick Grant to purchase new basketballs, ball bags and singlets for 120 young members in the Hills Raiders Basketball Association Summer competition.

Former President of the Parkerville Kangaroos Basketball Club, John Bowden, said without the assistance of the grant, the club would not have been able to purchase the items.

“When a club is run entirely by volunteers and fees are set as low as possible to encourage participation, it is heavily reliant on fundraising events to purchase new equipment,” he said.

“Access to grants such as the Shire’s Quick Grants is enormously helpful in raising funds and the process of applying is easy.”

Logos for Mahogany Creek Tennis Club

The Mahogany Creek Tennis Club was also awarded a $500 Quick Grant which contributed towards the cost of the design of a club logo, signage and stainless steel lockable drawers for the clubroom kitchen.

The Club’s Secretary, Noelene Wigmore, said the application process was simple.

“The funds helped us achieve our goal of having our own logo designed faster than fundraising would have,” she said.

“This has meant that we are able to streamline our branding in our communications.

“We are now working towards another project which includes iron-on patches of our logo for club members.”
