Green Spot Survey now open

Shire of Mundaring residents are invited to complete the Green Spot survey on Engage Mundaring by Monday 31 October to assist in identifying areas of higher risk and frequency where animals cross the road.

The survey is part of the 2022 Green Spot Program, which alerts drivers to watch out for wildlife crossing points.

Shire President James Martin said the Green Spot Program was designed to increase community awareness of wildlife on local roads.

“Each year, 10 wildlife hot spot locations are chosen based on community feedback," he said.

“Two Green Spot road signs, with the Wildcare Helpline number, will be displayed at the most reported locations in the shire.

This aims to create awareness for drivers to help minimise wildlife deaths on our roads.”

The program was originally developed based on recommendations by the Shire’s Environmental Advisory Committee.

Signage is relocated during spring when many animals are most active, and will remain in place for 12 months until new submissions are required.

To help the Shire identify this year’s green spots, complete the survey via Engage Mundaring website.
