Poets across Western Australia are invited to submit up to three poems in the 2022 Mundaring Poetry Competition for a chance to win $300.

Shire of Mundaring in collaboration with Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre are calling for entries from Western Australian residents aged 18 years and over by Friday 21 October.

Shire President James Martin said the Shire was pleased to support the poetry competition for a fifth year running.

“There are many creative writers not only in the Shire but across Western Australia.”

“This competition, in partnership with the longstanding KSP Writers’ Centre, is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the creative talent we have in this state.”

Poets can submit three poems with a limit of 50 lines per poem based on this year’s theme ‘New leaves, unfurling.’

KSP Writers’ Centre’s CEO, Shannon Britza, said poems may be open style, traditional or contemporary.
“We look forward to receiving entries from poets who are at any stage of the craft, whether you are established or emerging, published or unpublished,” she said.

The winner will be notified on Wednesday 2 November followed by an awards ceremony on Monday 7 November 2022. Entries must be accompanied by a cover sheet and entry form. For full entry conditions and to download a cover sheet and entry form, visit Mundaring Poetry Competition.
