Quick Grants – speedy funding for community projects

Shire of Mundaring’s General Purpose Quick Grants are set to open from Friday 21 April. The fund awards up to $500 to community groups to purchase small equipment items, training, promotional materials and other small projects.

Shire President James Martin said the Shire had been awarding General Purpose Quick grants for over twenty years.

“These grants are a popular option with community groups and clubs who regularly need financial support for small projects, or items to support their efforts,” he said

“Quite often a group or club will have an unplanned need for small items, training or equipment and this is where the program can be effective.

“On average, 18 applications are received each round from a wide range of community based sporting, social and volunteer based clubs and organisations.”

During round one of the 2022/2023 financial year, 19 groups received funding to the value of $9023.00.

A unique project to benefit from the last round of Quick Grants was the Parkerville Playgroup. The group used the funding to purchase a customised, locally made petrol bowser to complement their imaginative play racetrack for little people.

Playgroup Vice President Steph Johannesson said the support received from the Shire helps the volunteer-run Playgroup provide a well-equipped facility for children and parents to have great experiences.

“We were pleased to receive the financial support to purchase this item to complement the racetrack . The children adore playing with the new petrol bowser,” she said.

“Creating an environment where our children’s imagination is nurtured through play is such an important part of their development.”

If your community club or group has a need for items of equipment, training, promotional materials or another small projects, we encourage you to get in touch.
