Residents in the Shire of Mundaring are advised that the Restricted Burning Period will commence from 1 October to 30 November.

The Restricted Burning Period allows:

  • Small 1 sqm piles of garden refuse can be burnt, one at a time, without a permit between 6pm and 11pm. Piles must be fully extinguished by midnight (fully extinguished means no heat, smoke or steam and no white ash present where the fire was situated).
  • No more than one pile of garden refuse is to be burnt at any one time. There must be one adult in attendance at all times.
  • No burning of piles, including after 6pm or with a permit, on days where the Fire Danger Rating is HIGH or above.
  • To burn more than 1 pile at a time, or during the day before 6pm, a permit is required and can be obtained online or at your local fire station on Saturday mornings.
Residents must not cause a smoke nuisance to surrounding properties.
They are also urged to notify their neighbours prior to burning and call the Department of Fire and Emergency Services Communications Centre on 9395 9209 prior to burning.
