Snap up prizes in this year's photo competition

Mundaring and Hills Historical Society and Shire of Mundaring Libraries are excited to announce that the Shire of Mundaring Snapped Historic Photo Competition is back for 2022!

There are two ways to participate this year, either by submitting a historic (pre-2000) photograph in the Open Award Category or by captioning a photograph chosen by the organisers. There is also a People’s Choice award. The winner of each category will receive a $100 prize.

Shire President, James Martin, said the competition is a great way for residents to share their memories of Mundaring and show how much, or how little local places have changed in the last 30 to 40 years.

“Sharing your photographs means we can build our heritage collection and preserve these memories for generations to come,” he said.

“If you have unpublished photos of a local arts or sporting event, people at work or play, or of much-loved places, we would love to see them.”

“We’re not expecting the photographs to be artistic. It’s more important to represent our history in an accurate way through the images.”

Eligibility and Entries

All photographs will be eligible for the Open Award, judged by one representative from Mundaring & Hills Historical Society and one representative from the Shire of Mundaring and a People’s Choice award.

Entries open Monday 1 August and close Monday 22 August. There will be a People's Choice Award to be judged by a public poll on the Shire of Mundaring Libraries' Facebook page from Monday 29 August to Monday 5 September.
