Three community grants on offer

Local community groups are now able to pen their applications in a bid to receive funds for activities that benefit their group and broader community.

Applications for three of Shire of Mundaring’s Community Grants are now open, including the return of a $2500 Milestone Event Grant following the outbreak of the pandemic.

Shire of Mundaring President James Martin said it was wonderful that the grants had reopened in order to provide greater opportunities for community groups to share their passions and celebrate their successes.

“Community groups can apply for a Community Event grant of up to $5000, to run events that benefit the community and encourage visitors to the area including festivals, markets, and exhibitions,” he said.

“The Matching Grant offers groups up to $2000 for projects that meet the needs of the community including equipment, minor capital upgrades, promotional material and training.”

Milestone Events Grant returns

The Shire has also re-opened its $2500 Milestone Events Grant for community groups celebrating a significant milestone achievement.

Cr Martin said the Milestone Events Grant was reinstated this year after funds were allocated to the COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund for the last two years.

“We are living in a world where we are adapting to a new normal,” he said.

“The opportunity to offer this grant in 2022 is a positive step forward in our COVID journey.”

The Milestone Event Grant was last awarded to the Glen Forrest Community Kindergarten and Family Playgroup in 2019 to help celebrate their thirtieth anniversary.
