About the Cultural Advisory Group

The Cultural Advisory Group is a volunteer group of Council, with members engaged by the Shire in a volunteer capacity.

The purpose of the group is to:

  • Through Shire employees, provide strategic advice to Council on policies and projects which build on the Shire’s arts, cultural and heritage strengths, goals and objectives.
  • Through Shire employees, provide advice to Council on Corporate and other strategic plans and informing strategies.
  • Through Shire employees, make resource recommendations and advocate on behalf of the community and stakeholders on matters related to arts, culture and heritage.
  • Members of the Group are the community voice in matters related to arts, culture and heritage.
  • Foster the awareness of and involvement by residents in community arts, cultural and heritage projects.
  • Through various arts, cultural and heritage mediums highlight what is unique about the Shire of Mundaring as a place to live, work and visit.
  • Promote, inform and celebrate the achievement of local organisations, artists and cultural providers to build on the rich natural and built heritage and artistic traditions of the region thus attracting cultural tourism and building community.
  • Identify potential funding partnerships and opportunities and attract funding to support arts, cultural and heritage initiatives.

Group membership

Membership consists of up to 12 diverse and experienced individuals (including one elected member) with experience and a background in matters related to arts, culture and heritage.
