The Mundaring Arts Centre Inc., in partnership with the Shire of Mundaring runs an annual Enviornmental Art Project. The project provides primary school children the opportunity to creatively engage with local and global environmental issues whilst developing their own positive message about protecting the earth.

The project features:

  • Environmental drawing competition for primary school students
  • Exhibition of entries and a people's choice vote
  • Selected designs installed as banners in the Mundaring Town Centre

The Environmental Advisory Committee helps to develop the environmental theme for each year.

2021 Theme - Caring for Country

The theme for 2021 was Caring for Country, with students learning about Aboriginal ecological knowledge. Find out about winners of the 2021 competition and participating schools.

2022 Theme - Backyard Biodiversity

The 2022 Environmental Art Project, Backyard Biodiversity challenged teachers, parents and students to look closely at nature and discover and monitor the animals that live in our local area.  This year's project was proudly supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the City of Swan and the Shire of Mundaring.
