Sunday 12th October 2025

Don’t miss out on the chance to meet DFES staff and local Bushfire Brigades and have fun learning how to prepare your home and family for the upcoming bushfire season. Through informative displays, demonstrations and interactive exhibits, the event is the perfect opportunity for DFES and partners to share valuable information to boost your bushfire preparedness efforts.

Kids can look forward to a variety of engaging, interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that will capture their attention and spark their curiosity.

Alongside the day’s activities, you’ll also be able to browse a variety of market stalls featuring local makers, creators, small businesses and community groups. Thanks to Perth Hills Events, there’ll be something for everyone, from unique handmade goods to fabulous food trucks serving up delicious eats.

Get to know our local volunteers! This year’s Bushfire Community Day will have a variety of local brigades on hand with plenty of engaging activities to help the community get ready for bushfire season.

  • Work with the Chidlow Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade to start your personalised bushfire plan with the help of local volunteers. With a simple worksheet, plus practical advice, perfect for everyone. Ask questions and prepare with confidence.
  • The Darling Range Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade will invite visitors to step inside their Incident Control Vehicle! Discover how crews communicate, see maps in action, and enter the prize draw by filling in a t-card, just like the firies do!
  • The Glen Forrest Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade will be sharing real stories from local firefighters. Watch their training and callout videos, discover the camaraderie, and learn how you can get involved too.
  • See the Mt Helena Voluntary Bush Fire Brigade volunteers in action! Watch live firefighting drills (including Burnovers), teamwork under pressure, and the safety gear that keeps crews protected on the front line.
  • Discover the pathway to becoming a volunteer fire fighter from the Mundaring Fire School and hear about the rich history of training in Mundaring.
  • Watch the Mundaring Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service volunteers share practical fire safety tips for your home, while the Cadets demonstrate drills and appliance use.
  • Learn, watch, and stay safe! It’s a race against the clock! Show Parkerville Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade how you will pack your emergency kit. Score points for essentials, avoid the non-essentials, and see if you can top the leaderboard.
  • Sawyers Valley Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade will have firefighting ‘squirt’ trucks for kids to use a fire hose and spray targets.
  • Get to know your local Stoneville Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade volunteer firefighters! Find out why they joined and discover the people behind the uniform.
  • The Darlington Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade will be firing up the BBQ with a sausage sizzle! Grab a bite, meet the crew, and enjoy a relaxed chat about bushfire preparedness while supporting your local brigade.
  • Explore the Mundaring State Emergency Service in action!
  • See rescue tools and storm response equipment.
  • Learn how volunteers support the community during emergencies.
  • Ask questions and get involved.
