Emergency warnings and alerts

During an emergency, timely and accurate information can help you make informed decisions to protect yourself, your family and your property. Official warnings and alerts provide information about current incidents, the level of threat and any actions you should take.

Warnings may change as conditions change. It is important to monitor official information sources regularly and understand what different warning levels mean before an emergency occurs.

The resources below explain the primary warning systems used in Western Australia and how emergency messages may be delivered. Residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these systems and know where to find information during an emergency.

Emergency information

In addition to official warnings and being personally aware of your surroundings, there are several trusted sources that provide emergency information, situational updates and community messaging during emergencies. Accessing information from reliable sources can help you stay informed and avoid misinformation.

Different information sources may be useful at different stages of an emergency. Radio broadcasts, agency websites and official social media channels can all provide valuable updates about current conditions, road closures and response activities.

The resources below bring together key information that residents may wish to monitor before, during and after an emergency event.

Bushfires can occur with little warning and conditions may change rapidly. Visitors are encouraged to check fire danger ratings, understand local restrictions and know where to access emergency information before undertaking recreational activities.
