The Grab and Go facility at Mathieson Road Recycling Centre will be temporarily closed from Monday 5 May for upgrades. The works are expected to take five weeks to complete. Coppin Road Grab and Go remains open as usual.

This important role strengthens the Shire’s commitment to transparent and accountable governance and supports the development of a risk-aware organisation with effective, efficient systems and processes. The Governance and Risk team provides oversight across compliance, risk management and governance frameworks, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team.
James brings extensive experience across local government and the private sector. He’s worked in governance and risk roles with, Councils in Western Australia and in Queensland and also ran his own successful business for five years, bringing valuable commercial insight to the role. Originally from Zimbabwe, James has called Australia home since 2002. He holds a bachelor’s degree in politics and law from the University of Notre Dame and a postgraduate law degree from Murdoch University.

Shire CEO Jason Whiteaker said James’ appointment supports “Our Plan for the Future” Council’s Strategic Plan 2024 to 2034, which outlines the Shire’s focus on community-centred decision making and achieving the best outcomes for residents.
