Shire of Mundaring Council has unanimously resolved to continue its partnership with Mundaring Adult Creative and Learning Inc. (MACL), extending a four-year service agreement that will see the organisation continue to deliver vital adult education programs across the shire.
The renewed agreement, valued at $39,500 per year (plus CPI), recognises MACL’s long-standing contribution to community learning, wellbeing and cultural engagement. Operating for more than 45 years, MACL delivers a wide range of community-based workshops, educational classes, and inclusive programs, supported by volunteers and a dedicated executive team.
Shire President Paige McNeil said the agreement reinforces Council’s commitment to sustainable, community-led education.
“Mundaring Adult Creative and Learning Inc. continues to inspire a culture of learning and connection in our community,” she said.
“The organisation’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality, accessible and inclusive adult education programs is a testament to the strength of their volunteer base and the value the community places on lifelong learning.”
Under the agreement, MACL will continue delivering diverse educational opportunities such as painting, digital literacy, wellbeing classes and specialist programs for people with additional needs. Recent achievements include securing over $130,000 in external grants, completing building expansions and growing membership and volunteer participation significantly.
The Shire’s ongoing support will not only ensure the continued success of these programs but will also enable the organisation to leverage further funding, build long-term sustainability and support local economic and social outcomes.
The agreement aligns with ‘Our Plan for the Future’, the Shire of Mundaring’s Council Plan 2024 to 2034. It supports key objectives that promote community wellbeing, lifelong learning, arts and culture, and volunteering.
