Update on North Stoneville SAT Appeal

Published on Friday, 12 December 2025 at 9:00:00 AM

The State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) appeal for Structure Plan 34 North Stoneville began in September and concluded its hearings on Thursday 11 December 2025. SAT will now consider all material before delivering its decision in the new year. Major planning matters of this scale can take several months for determination.

The Shire’s submissions to SAT will be released publicly once legal advice confirms the appropriate timing.

Council’s long-standing positions on the site remain unchanged. Council has resolved to refuse Structure Plan 34 due to concerns around bushfire evacuation risk, traffic impacts and environmental conservation. In 2020, Council also resolved to support the rezoning of the land from urban to rural residential. These remain the formal positions guiding the Shire’s approach to planning for the area.

The Shire is committed to planning outcomes that support sustainable development in the Perth Hills and protect the long-term interests of the community and environment.
