When to place your items on the verge

You can place your items on the verge 7 days prior to your scheduled collection date.

For example, if your scheduled collection date is 10 September, you can start placing your items on the verge from 3 September.

Important notes:

  • Do not place items on the verge earlier than 7 days prior to your scheduled collection date.
  • Do not add waste after your scheduled collection date.
  • All waste won't be collected on the same day as different types of waste are collected on different days.

How to place your items on the verge

Separate your items by type

Waste must be separated and placed in piles by type:

  • Greenwaste
  • Household junk
  • Scrap metal
  • White goods
  • Mattresses.

Each pile should be placed 50cm apart.

Place items safely and enable access

When placing your waste ensure items:

  • Do not obstruct your normal bin service
  • Are not placed under trees
  • Do not obstruct the footpath
  • Do not spill out onto the road
  • Do not obstruct the line of site for motorists
  • Are clear of power lines/poles
  • Are not placed near fences
  • Do not obstruct access to your mailbox
  • Are not placed on sprinklers or near water meters.

What to do if your items are not collected

There may be several reasons why some/all of your items have not been collected:

  • Different types of waste are collected on different days i.e. your green waste may be collected on a different day to fridges and white goods
  • You may have placed more than 2 cubic metres of waste on your verge
  • The collection truck may not have been able to access the items.

If all of your waste items have not been collected within 7 days of your scheduled verge collection date, you will find a notice in your letterbox explaining why. The notice will include instructions on what you can do next and contact details.
