The trend of cooler, wet evenings that begins in Djeran intensifies during Makuru when cold fronts from the coast bring much-needed rain to the south-west. The dry Perth Hills landscape can finally "exhale" as water sources are replenished, creeks start gushing and larger water bodies refill. This change in resources kicks off the breeding cycle for many species, including wildflowers, frogs, birds and mammals.
