Library membership opens the door to a whole world of discovery and enrichment, and it's free.

Our libraries have a great range of books, magazines, audiobooks, and DVDs for all ages and interests.

Library members have free access to digital resources including eBooks, eMagazines, digital audiobooks, music, comics, TV shows, and movies.

Library membership also gives access to the Mundaring Seed Library.

What you can borrow

  • Adult members: 20 items including up to 2 jigsaws
  • Young adult members (15 to 17 years): 20 items including up to 2 jigsaws
  • Teen members (13 to 14 years): 20 items
  • Junior members (0 to 12 years): 12 items
  • Visitor members: 6 items

Items can be borrowed for three weeks, unless otherwise advised.

How to join the library

Join online

You can join online to access the libraries' digital resources without having to visit the library.

If you wish to borrow physical items you can still join online, then visit the library to provide proof of name and address and collect your library card.

Join Online

Join in-person

Library membership is open to everyone. You can join in-person at either Mundaring Library or Boya Library.

To join the libraries you will need to provide:

  • Proof of name; and
  • Proof of current address.

If you are aged under 16 years, a parent or guardian who is a Shire of Mundaring Libraries’ member can apply for your membership.

Temporary membership

Visitors and temporary residents are welcome to join the library. You will need:

  • Proof of name
  • Proof of residential address
  • Details of the address you are staying at for the term of your visit.

Cards remain valid for four months, however you can renew your membership if required.

Book Club membership

Book Clubs can join the libraries and borrow book club kits.

The kits include 10 copies of a title and reading notes. 

There are more than 140 titles to choose from.

There is an annual fee of $140 which entitles a book club to 12 kits per year.

Home library services membership

If you live in the Shire of Mundaring and cannot visit the library because of illness, injury or other reasons which make it hard to visit in person, you may be eligible for our home delivery service.

This is a free service which we can provide on a temporary or permanent basis.​

Once you are registered for this service, volunteers and staff will select items based on your interests and deliver them to your door. If you wish to apply for this service, complete the form below and email or post it to the libraries.

Library services for people with disability 

The Shire of Mundaring Libraries have a number of services for people with disability, including:

  • Large print and audio books
  • e-Resources
  • Accessible parking near library entrances
  • Ramp access to library entrances
  • Accessible public toilets
  • Automatic doors
  • Accessible counters
  • Wheelchairs for use in the libraries
  • Large print keyboards and Zoom Text software for use with library computers.

Interlibrary loans

If the item you are looking for is not held in the Shire of Mundaring Libraries, you may be able to request it via interlibrary loan from another library. There are restrictions on requesting items acquired in the last 12 months and DVDs.

Wooroloo Mobile Library

Shire of Mundaring Libraries provides a mobile library service every three weeks on a Tuesday from 11am to 1pm to residents of Wooroloo and surrounding locales.

You are welcome to join the library if you are not already a member. Contact Mundaring Library on 9290 6780 for details.

Unaccompanied children in the libraries

Children aged under 12 years may not visit the libraries unaccompanied by an adult.

Library Terms and Conditions

  1. Library items are not to be removed from the library building unless have been registered as a loan. 
  1. Members agree to take responsibility for the physical condition and timely return of all items borrowed and to pay for any loss or damage to those items at an amount prescribed by the Shire of Mundaring plus a processing fee as per the Shire of Mundaring Fees and Charges Schedule. 
  1. Members are not to make their own repairs to a damaged item, but are to advise library staff of the damage when the item is returned. 
  1. Members are responsible for any items borrowed on a lost/stolen card until the card’s loss is reported to the Library. A charge is incurred for a replacement card. 
  1. No items will be issued to a membership that has outstanding fees and charges. 
  1. Members must notify the library of any changes to their name and contact details. 
  1. Parents/Guardians are responsible for: a) items and any debts incurred on their child's card; b) monitoring their child's selection and use of library resources; c) supervision of their children in the library. 
  1. A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign on behalf of, and accept responsibility for, the membership of anyone under the age of 16. 
  1. The rights of other library users must be respected while in the library building - excessive noise or disorderly behaviour will result in a request for you to leave the library. 
  1. Temporary suspension of up to three months will be applied to any library member who seriously misuses the libraries facilities or behaves inappropriately in the library. 
  1. If you access eResources and online databases with your library membership you must comply with the terms and conditions of license agreements between publishers and the library. 
  1. Members must comply with the conditions of the Copyright Act 1968. 

Internet and Online Terms and Conditions

The Library Service provides free internet access through public-use computers and WiFi to the public for the purpose of research, education, communication and recreation. In using the service, you agree to the following terms and conditions. 

1.You must make a booking either online or in person at the library to use the computers. Users may access the computers up until 10 minutes before closing time. 

2. A child under the age of sixteen must be a library member to use the Internet and a parent/guardian must give signed permission to indicate that they agree to the child having unrestricted and unsupervised access.  

3. The Shire of Mundaring does not make any representation or warranty about the relevancy, accuracy, quality or validity of any material accessed online. The Shire is not responsible for any loss or damage occurring from the use of these facilities or from service interruptions due to technical difficulties. 

4. Access to the Internet is provided in a public place therefore privacy cannot be guaranteed, either while you are using the service or after you have completed your session. A user is responsible for deleting any of their own files or documents saved to a library computer or device, including history files. 

5. WiFi users are required to take precautions when using this free service to lower the security risks associated with the unsecured nature and ease of use of connection to public WiFi hotspots. 

6. By using this service, users agree to adhere to the Western Australian Classification (Publications, Films and Compute Games) Enforcement Act 1996, Criminal Code Act 1995, and Copyright Act 1968. Under the provisions of these Acts, users agree to refrain from illegal, prohibited or unethical use of the Internet which includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Engaging in conduct that breaks Federal, State, or Local Council laws and regulations
  • Accessing or transmitting material which is pornographic, obscene, offensive, threatening, abusive, defamatory or objectionable
  • Accessing sites with illicit content or instructions for threatening or violating the security of property or privacy of people
  • Accessing sites which display graphic violence and the infliction of pain or injuries to humans or animals. 

7. Sound must be muted or headphones used. 

8. Users must not modify the installed hardware or software on any of the libraries’ computers or devices. 

Any breach of these terms and conditions on either the Shire of Mundaring Libraries public computers or the public Wi-Fi will result in termination of the access session and subsequent breaches may lead to permanent banning from access to the Shire of Mundaring free public computers and Wi-Fi. The Shire of Mundaring has the responsibility of advising appropriate Government agencies of any illegal use of the Internet according to State and Federal Law.
