Celebrating 55 Years of Community Connection

Shire of Mundaring has joined members of Mundaring Seniors Incorporated in celebrating the organisation’s 55th anniversary, recognising more than five decades of friendship, connection and support for older residents across the Perth Hills. The milestone was marked with a special afternoon tea celebration at The Hub of the Hills on 19 August 2026.

Founded in 1971, Mundaring Seniors Incorporated has long provided opportunities for older residents to remain socially connected, active and engaged in their community through a range of social and recreational activities.

During the celebrations, Shire President Paige McNeil announced Council had approved the full $89,000 funding request from Mundaring Seniors Incorporated towards a new bus for its members and the wider community. Mundaring Seniors is also seeking additional funding support from Lotterywest and the Mundaring Community Bank to help deliver the project.

President McNeil said the anniversary was an opportunity to recognise the important role the organisation continues to play in supporting community wellbeing.

“For 55 years, Mundaring Seniors has provided a welcoming place for people to come together, build friendships and stay connected to their community.

“Whether it’s enjoying a game of carpet bowls, sharing a cup of tea, joining a social activity or simply having a place to catch up with friends, these connections make a real difference to people’s lives.

“Organisations like Mundaring Seniors help reduce social isolation, support wellbeing and create a strong sense of belonging for older members of our community.”

President McNeil said the Shire was proud to support Mundaring Seniors into the future.

“The new bus will help members continue accessing activities, outings and services for many years to come, and we are pleased to support a project that will benefit so many local residents and strengthen community connections across the Perth Hills.”

“This anniversary is a celebration of the past 55 years, of the volunteers, members and community spirit that will carry the organisation forward into the future.”

The anniversary celebration brought together members, volunteers and guests to reflect on the organisation’s achievements and the many friendships formed through the group over the past five decades.
