After an outstanding career spanning more than four decades in local government, we bid a fond farewell to Director Statutory Services, Mark Luzi, whose final day with Shire of Mundaring is today.
Mark brought 46 years of continuous experience to the sector, including the past 19 and a half years in senior leadership with the Shire. Throughout his time here, he has made a lasting impact across statutory services, contributing to the development of new Local Planning Strategies and Schemes, supporting and mentoring his teams and championing projects that strengthened community safety and service delivery.
Mark’s colleagues will miss not only his depth of expertise and calm, measured approach but also his genuine commitment to collaboration and excellence in public service.
Reflecting on his time at the Shire, Mark had many a story to share and leaves us with fond memories.
"I can honestly say that my motivation to come to work each day has been to work with all the wonderful staff at Mundaring who are so committed to providing great community service,” he said.
Mark was farewelled yesterday at a function held in his honour. Shire President Paige McNeil, CEO Jason Whiteaker, fellow Directors and staff gathered to reflect on Mark’s many contributions and celebrate his retirement. With more time now to focus on family and hobbies, including his keen interest in racehorses, Mark is looking forward to the next chapter.
We thank him for his exceptional service to the Shire and the local government sector, and wish him all the very best as he takes a well-earned step back from professional life. His legacy of leadership, professionalism and dedication will be remembered fondly.
