Shire of Mundaring is pleased to announce the appointment of Shannon Foster to the newly created role of Manager Corporate Strategy and Communications.
The position forms part of a broader organisational review undertaken in the context of Council’s 2024 adopted Strategic Plan. The Corporate Strategy and Communications service area sits within a newly established organisational transformation function, which also includes Business Improvement and reports directly to the CEO.
Shannon brings 25 years of experience in local government, including eight years in senior leadership. She has been with the Shire for several years, leading the Communications, Libraries and Community Engagement team, where she has played a pivotal role in strengthening community connections and improving service delivery.
Shire CEO Jason Whiteaker said the appointment aligns with the Shire’s focus on community-centred outcomes as outlined in its Council Plan.
“Shannon’s leadership and strategic expertise make her the ideal person to lead our Corporate Strategy and Communications team. Her experience in driving change and improving communications outcomes will be invaluable as we continue to enhance customer service and strengthen our relationship with the community,” he said.
In her new role, Shannon will lead the Corporate Strategy and Communications teams in enhancing corporate communications, customer service and strategic outcomes. Her focus will be on improving the overall customer experience, strengthening community engagement and ensuring the Shire’s communications reflect the needs of the community.
“I’m looking forward to building on the great work of our teams and continuing to strengthen our communication and customer service approach. By aligning with our strategic goals, we can deliver lasting, meaningful outcomes for our community,” she said.
Shannon’s impressive career includes receiving the Local Government Policy Award for Children and Youth Consultation and successfully developing and implementing communications and engagement strategies that have enhanced outcomes for the Shire and its community. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Social Science, bringing both strategic insight and a community-focused approach to her leadership. We are confident her expertise and passion will strengthen the Shire’s corporate communications, customer service and strategic planning, helping us deliver impactful and inclusive outcomes for our community.
