Posted: 18/03/2026

Our Vision
Parkerville Oval is an important place for sport and recreation in our community.
This project will upgrade the oval lighting so the space can be used more often and by more people. The goal is to support local clubs, encourage participation and create more opportunities for sport in the hills.

Why This Project Matters
Sport is a big part of life in our community. Local clubs bring people together and help people stay active, connected and healthy.
The lighting upgrade will allow more training sessions and games to take place in the evening. This gives clubs greater flexibility and helps meet growing demand for sports facilities.
The project will also allow a wider range of sports to use the oval after dark. The existing lighting only allows limited training for large ball sports.
The new lighting will support:
- AFL amateur competition (150 lux) and amateur training (50 lux)
- Cricket competitions and training across multiple junior and senior levels
- Soccer amateur competition, match practice and training
This upgrade will help local clubs grow and create more opportunities for players of all ages.
What’s Planned
The project will upgrade the oval lighting to modern LED sports lighting.
Works include:
- Removing the existing lighting poles and metal halide lamps
- Installing new LED sports lighting poles and lamps
- Upgrading the electricity supply for the oval and buildings
- Installing new switchboards and lighting control systems
- Installing a general power outlet at the new cricket practice nets
The new lighting will provide better visibility, improved energy efficiency and more reliable performance.
