Emergencies can affect anyone, anywhere, and effective planning helps communities prepare for, respond to and recover from a range of hazards.

The Shire of Mundaring works with emergency services, government agencies, community organisations and neighbouring local governments to support a coordinated approach to emergency management. Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA) describe how agencies work together to manage emergencies and support the community before, during and after an incident.

The LEMA outlines roles and responsibilities, coordination arrangements, communication processes and recovery planning for a range of emergency situations. Supporting plans provide additional detail for specific functions including evacuation, recovery and animal welfare.

While many emergency management activities occur behind the scenes, these arrangements help ensure the Shire and its partners are prepared to respond effectively when emergencies occur.
