Shire of Mundaring is excited to announce the Firewise Seedlings Program, a new small-scale program open to all residents who own or live on town centre and residential-zoned properties. Eligible applicants of this new program qualify for the chance to receive one pack of preselected low growing, firewise native plants, with a broad spectrum of flowering times that promote a diverse pollinator population, suitable for residential and urban landscapes.

These packs may contain up to twenty plants and will be comprised of up to four different and carefully selected species.

Who can receive a Firewise seedlings pack?

Shire of Mundaring residents and ratepayers who own or live on town centre or residential-zoned properties.

If you are not sure if your property is zoned town centre or residential, select the Town Planning page to search for your address on the Shire’s GeoHub Maps system. Alternatively contact the Shire and ask for assistance to check your zoning. 

Please note: Rural zoned properties, schools and community groups will not be eligible to receive a seedling pack from this program.

  • Establishing low growing firewise gardens.
  • Supporting pollinator diversity on your property.

How do I submit an Expression of Interest?

Expressions of Interest for the Firewise Seedlings Program open on October 5, 2026.

The 2027 Expressions of Interest online form is available at My Mundaring. 

Hard copy forms are available at the Shire Administration Building, Shire libraries and the Mundaring Visitor Centre.

Expressions of Interest will close at 4pm on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Selection Process Official Rules and Guidelines

  1. The Expression of Interest period for 2027 runs from 12pm Monday 5 October 2026 to 4pm Friday 6 November 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  2. Participation is open exclusively to residents of the Shire of Mundaring.
  3. Each property address is eligible to submit only one expression of interest.
  4. Successful applicants will be determined through a chance-based selection process, all eligible applicants have an equal chance of being selected.
  5. The results of the random selection are final.
  6. Packs are allocated through a chance-based selection process to ensure equitable access to available supply.
  7. The personal information you provide in your Expression of Interest will be used to manage your application only.
  8. Plant packs may contain up to twenty plants and comprised of up to four different and carefully selected species. Plant species and quantities are indicative only and may be substituted or adjusted due to seasonal growing conditions or other supply factors. These adjustments can occur right up until the collection weekend, making it difficult for the Shire to communicate these substitutions to you.
  9. Applicants will be notified of the selection process outcome by email after applications close.
  10. The collection weekend for 2027 will run on the same weekend as Seedlings for Landcare at the Mundaring Operations Depot. The collection weekend date will be advised soon.  
  11. Successful applicants will receive all collection weekend details via email.
  12. You will need your unique Collection ID to take home your seedlings pack.
