Shire of Mundaring has two Community Recycling Centres:

  • Coppin Road Community Recycling Centre, Mundaring
  • Mathieson Road Community Recycling Centre, Chidlow

Important changes to the issue of entry passes (effective 1 September 2022)

As we move towards a paperless environment and electronic passes, landfill tickets will no longer be clipped. This is the last year printed CRC entry passes will be automatically issued to residents. The current blue entry pass can be retained and will automatically renew on 1 July 2023. Residents have several options available to ensure an easy transition to the new system. A summary infographic explaining these changes can be viewed here. Additional information can be found in the 'frequently asked questions' section below.

Changes to CRC Entry Passes

Frequently asked questions

Question Answer
What is an electronic Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass? An electronic Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass allows you, as a property owner, full access to the Community Recycling Centre, the same way as the hard copy tip passes do by using a barcode image saved to your portable electronic device (e.g. mobile phone). You have three landfill entries when it is first issued and they will renew each year from 1 July to 30 June on the same pass.
How do I use my electronic Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass? You can present the barcode at the Community Recycling Centre as a downloaded and saved image on your phone. Alternatively you may prefer to print it.
How do I share my electronic Community Recycling Centre entry barcode with an additional (authorised) user?

You can forward the electronic Entry Pass by attaching the electronic photo image to a text or email to your nominated user.

Alternatively you can provide a printed copy of the Entry Pass to the person who requires it. However, property owners must first request and have authorised other people (family members, contractors etc.) to dispose of waste on their behalf at the Community Recycling Centres.

To request an authorised person to be added, find the additional user request form on My Mundaring Online portal and complete the required details.

The validity period may be limited based on the type of additional user selected.

I don’t have a printer at home, where can I print my barcode for the Community Recycling Centre?

You can print the Entry Pass from your mobile device or at either of our two libraries.  You can also access your My Mundaring portal via public computer at either one of our two libraries (standard printing fees apply):

Mundaring Library (Albert Facey Memorial Library)
1 Nichol Street, Mundaring

Boya Library (Katharine Susannah Prichard Library)
119-135 Scott Street, Helena Valley

Alternatively, visit our Administration Centre, 7000 Great Eastern Highway, Mundaring for further assistance.

Will I be charged for a replacement Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass? There is no charge for an electronic or own-printed Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass.
How do I check my Community Recycling Centre history? You can check your Community Recycling Centre details and authorised users under the waste module of the My Mundaring Online portal.
I’m an owner, how do I let my tenant get entry to the Community Recycling Centre?

As an owner, you can set up your tenant as an additional user in the Community Recycling Centre module in My Mundaring Online portal. This allows them full access for green waste and recyclables at a Community Recycling Centre and use of your three landfill entries.

Alternatively, you can download or send the Entry Pass barcode to your tenant once they have been accepted as an authorised user once being accepted as a Tenant user on the My Mundaring portal.

I am a tenant, how do I access a Community Recycling Centre Entry pass?

You can access the Community Recycling Centre’s for unlimited access to dispose of green waste and recyclables.

You will be able to purchase Landfill/General Waste Entries at the Community Recycling Centre for $60.

Alternatively, tenants can be given permission to use a Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass from the owner of the property to also dispose of landfill/ general waste. Contact your property manager or landlord to be added as an authorised user for full access at the Community Recycling Centre.

How do I add other users to access Community Recycling Centre?

Property owners can authorise other people (family members, contractors etc.) to dispose of waste on their behalf at the Community Recycling Centres via My Mundaring Online.

To request an authorised person to be added, complete the additional user request form.

The authorisation validity period may be limited based on the type of additional user selected.

How do I track my visits to the Community Recycling Centre’s with an electronic pass?

My Mundaring Online allows you to check the number of Community Recycling Centre general waste (landfill) entries used and how many are left in the current period.

How much are additional general waste load entry passes at the CRC?

Once the three general waste (to landfill) passes have been used, you may purchase a $60 ticket for an additional load.

Do I need a pass to enter Containers for Change?

No pass is needed for Containers for Change.

The entry pass is blue for the 2022/23 financial year. Effective August 2022, residents can to register at the My Mundaring online portal to obtain an electronic pass

Entry pass entitlements

An entry pass entitles the resident to:

  • Three entries for general waste disposal to landfill*
  • Unlimited entry and disposal of certain recyclables, separated into different areas for recycling
  • Unlimited entries and disposal of green waste disposal

*Additional entries for general waste can be purchased (see below)

Additional entries for general waste

Additional entries to dispose of general waste may be purchased at the Community Recycling Centre (EFTPOS facilities are available), or at the Shire's Administration Building in Mundaring (view location and opening hours).

The cost is $60 each.

How to get an entry pass

Residential property owners

The Community Recycling Centre entry pass was posted together with annual rates notices in 2022. This is the last year printed CRC entry passes will be automatically issued to residents. The current blue entry pass can be retained and will automatically renew on 1 July 2023. We encourage residents to register for e-Rates (electronic rates) and to download an electronic entry pass. Residents with limited digital access can call us on 9290 6666 (option 5) to arrange a printed entry pass.

If you change your postal address, please complete a Change of Address form.

Change of Address Form (PDF)

Tenants (renters)

If you are a tenant leasing a property (renting), you will need to obtain the original entry pass from the homeowner or managing agent, or contact us to purchase a pass for recyclables and green waste only.

Vacant, commercial, non-rateable or non-prescribed properties

A pass may be issued to a property that does not receive one with the standard waste service, for a fee. The entry conditions remain the same as for residents – no commercial vehicles, quantities or commercial waste.

Entry passes are not transferable

The entry pass is not transferable. They are issued to Shire of Mundaring residents to dispose of waste from a single household only. They are issued in the property owner’s name but able to be used by anyone resident in the property.

Please carry proof of residence for the address on the entry pass as it may be requested by the gate attendant. You will be refused entry if you cannot show you are resident there.

You may not be the property owner, but because you do live there, you will have your Drivers Licence with that address.

Unauthorised use of the entry pass may result in confiscation.

Do I keep my pass once I’ve use my three landfill entries?

Yes. The pass is for the whole year until the next one is issued. It still provides valid entry for any recyclable, green waste and the Grab n Go. You can also purchase additional landfill entries but you still need to keep the pass.

Your entries are saved electronically, and any additional purchase will update in the system ready for gate staff.

Replacing a lost entry pass

A replacement entry pass can be issued to property owners or tenants for a fee.

Please be aware, entry data will be reviewed prior to re-issue and it is a like-for-like replacement. ie. if two general landfill uses have already been used, the replacement pass will have two uses marked as already used.

To arrange a replacement pass, please contact us.

Assistance with entry is available

Residents with an entry pass who may not be able to take their waste to the Community Recycling Centre themselves, are able to contact us in writing to request family and friends as helpers.

We do appreciate that some residents are unable to make the journey to the Community Recycling Centre themselves. To assist with this, we may issue a permission letter that will link your property entry pass to your helper/s. The helper will need to have their Drivers Licence with them.

Please email your request to shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au. Include your name and property address, contact phone numbers, reason for your request and full name and address of the family who will be assisting you.
