    Entry passes and FAQs

A Community Recycling Centre Entry Pass (formerly known as a Waste Transfer Station entry pass), grants homeowners and residents in the Shire of Mundaring access to the Shire's Community Recycling Centres in Mundaring and Chidlow.

An entry pass entitles the resident to:

    • Three entries for general waste disposal to landfill*
    • Unlimited entry and disposal of certain recyclables, separated into different areas for recycling
    • Unlimited entries and disposal of green waste disposal

*Additional entries for general waste can be purchased (see below).

The entry pass is blue for the 2022/23 financial year.

Residents can register at the My Mundaring online portal to obtain an electronic pass.

How do I get an additional entry pass?

Additional entries to dispose of general waste may be purchased at the Community Recycling Centre (EFTPOS facilities are available), or at the Shire's Administration Building in Mundaring (view location and opening hours).

    The cost is $60 each.

Where do I find my entry pass?

The Community Recycling Centre entry pass was posted together with the annual rates notices in 2022. This is the last year printed CRC entry passes will be automatically issued to residents.

The current blue entry pass can be retained and will automatically renew on 1 July 2023.

We encourage residents to register for e-Rates (electronic rates) and to download an electronic entry pass. Residents with limited digital access can call us on 9290 6666 (option 5) to arrange a printed entry pass.

How do I notify the Shire of a change of address?

If you change your postal address, please complete a Change of Address form.

    Change of Address Form (PDF)

What if I rent a property? How do I get an entry pass?

If you are a tenant leasing a property (renting), you will need to obtain the original entry pass from the homeowner or managing agent, or contact us to purchase a pass for recyclables and green waste only.

Can I get an entry pass for a vacant, commercial, non-rateable or non-prescribed property?

A pass may be issued to a property that does not receive one with the standard waste service, for a fee. The entry conditions remain the same as for residents – no commercial vehicles, quantities or commercial waste.

Can I transfer an entry pass?

The entry pass is not transferable. They are issued to Shire of Mundaring residents to dispose of waste from a single household only. They are issued in the property owner’s name but able to be used by anyone resident in the property.

Please carry proof of residence for the address on the entry pass, as it may be requested by the gate attendant. You will be refused entry if you cannot show you are resident there.

You may not be the property owner, but because you do live there, you will have your Drivers Licence with that address.

Unauthorised use of the entry pass may result in confiscation.

How do I replace a lost entry pass?

A replacement entry pass can be issued to property owners or tenants for a fee.

Please be aware, entry data will be reviewed prior to re-issue and it is a like-for-like replacement. ie. if two general landfill uses have already been used, the replacement pass will have two uses marked as already used.

To arrange a replacement pass, please contact us.

There is no charge for a replacement entry pass.

Can I get assistance with waste removal?

Residents with an entry pass who may not be able to take their waste to the Community Recycling Centre themselves, are able to contact us in writing to request family and friends as helpers.

We do appreciate that some residents are unable to make the journey to the Community Recycling Centre themselves. To assist with this, we may issue a permission letter that will link your property entry pass to your helper/s. The helper will need to have their Drivers Licence with them.

Please email your request to shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au. Include your name and property address, contact phone numbers, reason for your request and full name and address of the family who will be assisting you.

Do I keep my pass once I’ve use my three landfill entries?

Yes. The pass is for the whole year until the next one is issued. It still provides valid entry for any recyclable, green waste and the Grab n Go. You can also purchase additional landfill entries but you still need to keep the pass.

Your entries are saved electronically, and any additional purchase will update in the system ready for gate staff.

How much are additional general waste load entry passes at the CRC?

Once the three general waste (to landfill) passes have been used, you may purchase a $60 ticket for an additional load.

Do I need a pass to enter Containers for Change?

No pass is needed for Containers for Change.

    About electronic passes

As we move towards a paperless environment and electronic passes, landfill tickets will no longer be clipped. This is the last year printed CRC entry passes will be automatically issued to residents. The current blue entry pass can be retained and will automatically renew on 1 July 2023.

Residents have several options available to ensure an easy transition to the new system. A summary infographic explaining these changes can be viewed here. Additional information can be found in the 'frequently asked questions' section below.
