The Shire is working with the community to transform Brown Park into a welcoming, well‑planned destination for everyone. Brown Park is more than just an oval — it’s a vibrant hub already used by over 30 local groups and organisations.
The Master Plan will guide the park’s future, balancing sport, recreation, nature, culture and community use so the space continues to meet the needs of residents today and into the future.

Why This Project Matters
Brown Park is one of the Shire’s most significant recreation precincts. Participation in sport across the Shire continues to grow. Local clubs need facilities that support training, competition and community events.
Brown Park plays many roles for our community. Feedback has shown there is strong support for improved facilities for sport, youth, social connection and nature‑based experiences. The Master Plan will ensure future changes are well‑designed and reflect what the community values most.
This project will:
- Improve facilities for local sporting clubs
- Enhance public open space for families and visitors

- Strengthen the precinct as a community gathering place
By planning ahead, the Shire can deliver upgrades that meet community expectations while protecting the natural setting of Brown Park.

Project Timeline
The Brown Park Precinct Masterplan will be delivered in stages.
Key stages include:
- Community consultation and concept development
- Masterplan endorsement
- Detailed design of individual components
- Funding allocation and advocacy
- Staged construction and upgrades
Delivery timeframes depend on funding availability and Council priorities.
Updates will be provided as each stage progresses.
Community Engagement
Community input is central to shaping the future of Brown Park.
The project team has already met with:
- the Aboriginal Governance Group
- sporting clubs and key user groups
- a range of community organisations
These early conversations provided a strong foundation for the project, helping the team understand how the park is used, what’s working well, and where improvements are needed. They also helped shape the key themes and ideas explored in the broader community workshops.
Heritage Group Meeting (19 February 2026)
The Aboriginal Advisory Group expressed strong support for the project, including proposed new cricket nets and a scoreboard on the main oval. The group also supported highlighting the creek as a key feature of the precinct, subject to future funding.
Stakeholder Meeting – Swan View Cricket Club (24 February 2026)
The Club showed strong support for the project and proposed upgrades, including the cricket nets and broader precinct improvements. They also indicated a willingness to contribute to a future scoreboard and support ongoing community engagement.
Community Workshop
Building on this early engagement, the next stage brought the broader community together through two workshop sessions, with approximately 30 participants representing over half of the precinct’s key user groups.
Participants worked collaboratively to map how the park functions today and identify opportunities, priorities, and future layout ideas. The feedback strongly aligned with themes raised during early stakeholder conversations, including:
- increasing tree canopy and native planting
- improving accessibility and path connections
- incorporating Aboriginal cultural elements
- enhancing lighting and safety
- retaining and improving existing courts
- co-designing youth-focused spaces
A follow-up recap session was also held to share outcomes and capture additional feedback from those unable to attend.
The feedback from these sessions has informed the amended draft Master Plan, which will be presented to Council for review at the 14 April meeting.
What’s Next
The consultation for Brown Park has provided valuable insights and helped shape the draft Master Plan. The next phase of engagement will focus on the remaining key components of the precinct, including:
- Woodbridge Creek Beautification: Community input will help guide planting, path upgrades, lighting, and ecological improvements along the creek corridor.
- Skate Park Co-Design: Targeted workshops with young people and skate park users will explore layout, features, safety, and inclusive design opportunities.
The project team will continue to work closely with local groups, stakeholders, and young people to refine these components. Updates on upcoming engagement opportunities, project milestones, and next steps will be shared on the project webpage, ensuring the community remains informed and involved throughout the process.
