Community-driven Glen Forrest Pump Track breaks ground

The long-awaited Glen Forrest Pump Track is officially under construction, marking a major milestone for the community and local riders who helped shape its design.

Located in the reserve adjacent to Morgan John Morgan Park, the new $350,000 facility will provide a safe, exciting space for people of all ages and abilities to ride, connect and be active outdoors.

Delivered by Common Ground Trails, the award-winning team behind the popular Darlington Pump Track, the project has been partly funded through the State Government’s Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).

Shire President Paige McNeil said the project represents years of community advocacy, collaboration and creativity.

“This project has been a long time coming, and it’s been driven by the Glen Forrest community and supported by Council,” President McNeil said.

“Our residents, youth and community groups shared their ideas, their passion and their vision for what this space could be and it’s wonderful to see that vision now taking shape on site.

“This Pump Track is a great example of how community-led projects can bring people together and make our communities even more vibrant and liveable.”

In recent months, the Shire has worked closely with Common Ground Trails to incorporate feedback from a series of community workshops, attended by local youth and the Glen Forrest Residents and Ratepayers Association, and the Glen Forrest Community Garden.

The final design reflects the community’s ideas for an inclusive, environmentally sensitive track that complements the reserve’s natural bushland setting.

Construction is expected to be completed before Christmas, with progress updates and the final design made available on Engage Mundaring.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the community stakeholder groups for championing this project, and to everyone who took part in the design process,” President McNeil said.

“Projects like this show what’s possible when Council and community work together to create spaces that inspire and connect.”
