The free family event filled the arena and surrounding grounds with activities designed to help residents prepare for the upcoming bushfire season. Families met local volunteer brigades, explored the interactive Big Map, watched the RAC Rescue Helicopter in action and took part in hands-on demonstrations.
Kids enjoyed obstacle courses, market stalls and food trucks, while parents learned practical tips to keep their homes and families safe this summer.
Shire President Paige McNeil said the day showed the community’s shared commitment to staying safe and informed.
“It was fantastic to see so many families committed to learning how to prepare for bushfire season,” said President McNeil.
“Events like this build knowledge, connection and preparedness, all vital for a community living in a bushfire prone area like the Perth Hills. We’re grateful to DFES, our local brigades, volunteers and community partners for bringing such an engaging and important event to life.”
The Bushfire Community Day is held each year to promote bushfire awareness and preparedness across the Perth Hills, helping residents stay ready and resilient throughout the season ahead.
Residents are encouraged to start their bushfire planning early and access resources through the Shire website or the DFES My Bushfire Plan app.
