The Chidlow RV Rest Stop Project will deliver essential tourism infrastructure that supports recreational vehicle (RV) travellers visiting the region while encouraging greater exploration of Chidlow and the wider Shire of Mundaring.

The project aims to address a recognised gap in local RV services by providing a safe and accessible stopover facility for self-contained recreational vehicles. By enhancing amenities for drive visitors, the project will support local businesses, strengthen tourism outcomes and contribute to Chidlow's position as a welcoming destination for travellers.

Recreational vehicle tourism continues to be an important contributor to regional communities, bringing visitors who support local businesses, attractions and tourism operators.

The Chidlow RV Rest Stop Project has been developed to address an identified gap in local RV infrastructure and provide services that are currently limited within the region.

This project will:

• Improve services and amenities for recreational vehicle travellers
• Provide dedicated wastewater disposal infrastructure for self-contained RVs
• Support drive tourism and encourage longer visitor stays
• Increase opportunities for visitors to explore local businesses and attractions
• Strengthen Chidlow's position as a welcoming destination for travellers
• Support the delivery of the Shire's Economic Development and Tourism Strategy
• Complement existing tourism and accommodation offerings within the region

The project includes:

• Construction of a new RV Rest Stop Facility in Chidlow
• Unpowered parking bays for self-contained recreational vehicles
• A dedicated wastewater dump point
• Supporting wastewater infrastructure and servicing facilities
• Site works to improve accessibility, safety and functionality
• Infrastructure designed to support tourism and visitor experiences within the region

The Shire is committed to keeping the community informed throughout the project. Engagement activities will primarily focus on key stakeholder groups, local businesses and organisations with an interest in, or who may be affected by, the project.

Community updates and stakeholder communications will be provided throughout the project, with the Shire also gauging interest in a Project Overview Meeting for community groups, local businesses and interested community members.
