Our Vision
The Chidlow RV Rest Stop Project delivers essential tourism infrastructure that supports recreational vehicle (RV) travellers visiting the region while encouraging greater exploration of Chidlow and the wider Shire of Mundaring.
The project aims to address a recognised gap in local RV services by providing a safe and accessible stopover facility for self-contained recreational vehicles. By enhancing amenities for drive visitors, the project will support local businesses, strengthen tourism outcomes and contribute to Chidlow's position as a welcoming destination for travellers.

Why This Project Matters
RV tourism continues to be an important contributor to regional communities, bringing visitors who support local businesses, attractions and tourism operators.
The Chidlow RV Rest Stop Project was developed to address an identified gap in local RV infrastructure and provide services that were previously limited within the region.
This project will:
- Improve services and amenities for recreational vehicle travellers
- Provide dedicated wastewater disposal infrastructure for self-contained RVs
- Support drive tourism and encourage longer visitor stays

Community Engagement
The Shire has kept the community informed throughout delivery of the project and will continue to provide updates as the facility approaches completion and opening.
The Shire hosted a project overview meeting as part of the Chidlow Progress Association's monthly meetings, providing community members, local businesses and other stakeholders with an opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions. Following this engagement, an update group was established for interested community members to receive ongoing project information, key milestones and updates throughout the delivery of the project.
While this project is primarily informational, community members are welcome to contact the Shire with any questions or concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where will the facility be located?
The proposed RV Rest Stop Facility will be located behind the Chidlow Hall on Lot 358 Old Northam Road, Chidlow.
The location was selected due to its accessibility from Old Northam Road, suitability for the required infrastructure, and proximity to local businesses and community facilities. The site also provides an opportunity to encourage visitors to stop in Chidlow and explore local attractions and services.
Will the facility operate as a caravan park?
No. The facility is intended to operate as a basic RV Rest stop and servicing facility for self-contained recreational vehicles and is not proposed to function as a caravan park.
Will overnight stays be permitted?
The facility is being designed to support short stay use (maximum of 2 night stay) by self-contained recreational vehicles. Operational arrangements and any conditions of use will be confirmed before the facility is opened.
When will construction commence?
Construction of the Chidlow RV Rest Stop Facility is nearing completion. Final site works and commissioning activities are currently underway, with the facility expected to open to the public shortly. Further updates will be provided once an opening date is confirmed.
Why is this facility needed?
The Shire identified a gap in RV servicing infrastructure within the region. Currently, the nearest dedicated RV rest stop facility is located within the Shire of Northam. The Chidlow RV Rest Stop Project will provide a local facility that supports recreational vehicle travellers while helping direct visitation and economic benefits to Chidlow and the wider Shire of Mundaring.
