Why is a barrier being proposed?
The Shire's arborist has assessed the memorial trees and confirmed they are in good health. A barrier is being considered to help protect the trees' structural root zones from vehicle-related impacts, such as soil compaction, which can affect long-term tree health.
What barrier treatment was selected?
Following community engagement and consideration of arboricultural, operational and heritage requirements, a rock barrier treatment was selected for Memorial Avenue. The treatment balances the protection of the memorial trees with the heritage character and ongoing use of the area. Installation is expected to commence as part of the next stage of the project
Will I still be able to park along Memorial Avenue?
Parking arrangements will be considered as part of the project. The aim is to protect the memorial trees while maintaining appropriate access and functionality for the area. Barrier options will be developed with these considerations in mind.
