The Midvale Hub Team was proud to support Swan Communities for Children this Christmas, helping bring joy, connection and practical support to more than 200 local families during the festive season.

The team supported the Swan Aboriginal Christmas Party, held on 19 December, and worked alongside partners to prepare more than 200 Christmas hampers for families experiencing vulnerability across the region.

Led and coordinated by Swan Communities for Children and guided by respected local Elder Di Ryder, the annual Christmas Party is a community-led celebration that brings Aboriginal children and families together in a culturally safe, welcoming and supportive environment.

For many families, the Christmas period can be stressful and financially challenging. The hampers provided essential food items and festive supplies, helping ease pressure on households and ensuring children and families could share in the season with dignity and care.

The hamper packing was a hands-on, collective effort by Midvale Hub staff, reflecting the Hub’s strong focus on working together to meet local needs and support people where it matters most.

Shire President Paige McNeil said the initiative showed the real difference community partnerships can make in people’s lives.

“At its heart, this is about people looking out for one another,” President McNeil said. “When we support Aboriginal-led initiatives and work together as a community, we help create safe, inclusive spaces where children and families feel seen, supported and valued.”

“These moments matter. They help families feel connected, reduce stress at a difficult time of year, and remind people that their community cares.”

The partnership reflects the Midvale Hub’s ongoing commitment to working alongside Aboriginal leaders and organisations to reduce barriers to support and deliver meaningful, community-led outcomes for children and families.
