Shire of Mundaring is pleased to announce the appointment of Cathrine Temple as Director Place and Community, commencing on 16 November 2026.

Cathrine joins the Shire as it continues to strengthen community engagement, improve service delivery and plan for the future of the Perth Hills.

The Director Place and Community helps shape the places, services and experiences that connect people with their community. The role spans community spaces and facilities, long-term planning and engagement, ensuring local voices help guide the Shire’s future.

Chief Executive Officer Jason Whiteaker said Cathrine stood out throughout an extensive recruitment and selection process for her ability to bring people together and maintain a strong focus on community outcomes.

“Our community rightly expects us to listen, engage and deliver. We were looking for a leader who understands that successful places are shaped not just through plans and infrastructure, but through strong relationships, genuine community engagement and a clear focus on outcomes.

“Cathrine impressed us with her ability to bring people together, navigate complex issues and maintain a strong focus on community expectations.

“As we continue our organisational transformation, Cathrine will play an important role in ensuring community voices help shape the future of the Shire and that we continue delivering outcomes that matter most to our residents.”

The appointment supports the Shire’s focus on creating great places, strengthening communities and ensuring local aspirations inform future decisions.

Cathrine said she was looking forward to becoming part of the community and working alongside residents, community groups, Councillors and staff.

“What attracted me to this role was the opportunity to work with a community that has a strong sense of identity, cares deeply about its future and values its connection to place.

“I believe the best outcomes come from listening to communities and involving them in the decisions that shape the places where they live, work and spend time.

“I'm looking forward to getting out across the Shire, meeting residents and community groups, and building a strong understanding of what matters most to people. Together, we can deliver places, services and experiences that support community wellbeing and continue making the Perth Hills a great place to live.”
