Shire of Mundaring officially welcomed 50 new Australian citizens from 15 countries during a Citizenship Ceremony held at Mundaring Arena on Thursday 23 July, 2026.
The ceremony celebrated people from across the world choosing to call Australia, and the Perth Hills, home. Countries represented included the United Kingdom, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, the United States, Italy, Kenya, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Chile, Ireland and Russia.
The event brought together family, friends, dignitaries and Council Members to recognise this important milestone for the new citizens.
Shire President Paige McNeil presided over the ceremony and welcomed the new citizens on behalf of the community.
“It was wonderful to welcome 50 new Australian citizens to our community in the hills,” President McNeil said.
“The Shire of Mundaring is enriched by the diverse cultures, stories and experiences of the people who call our community home.”
“We welcome our newest citizens and look forward to seeing them involved in community life and contribute to the future of our Shire.”
The ceremony included an Acknowledgement of Country performed by Di Ryder OAM, recognising the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land.
Hon Klasey Hirst MLC attended the ceremony and delivered the Minister’s message on behalf of the Australian Government.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Anthony Spagnolo MLC and Steve Catania MLA.
Council Members attending the ceremony included Cr Ben Heptinstall, Cr Prapti Mehta and Cr Matt Woods.
Shire of Mundaring congratulates all 50 new citizens and warmly welcomes them as they begin this next chapter in the Heart of the Hills.
