Around 350 people gathered under the stars at Boya Oval last Friday for a festive Summertime Cinema screening of The Grinch. It was a warm and relaxed evening that drew families from across the Shire to enjoy a free community night out in the lead-up to Christmas.
Many attendees settled in with picnic rugs or made use of the bean bags provided, while others enjoyed dinner from the food vans onsite. Children took part in free face painting and made the most of the playground before the movie began.
The screening also featured some surprise festive characters. The Grinch made an appearance to hand out small gifts to children, and an attendee dressed as Santa joined in, creating a playful moment between the two. After the movie, many families wandered through the nearby Christmas light displays to continue the evening.
The next Summertime Cinema event will be held on Friday 16 January at Mundaring Recreation Ground Oval, with Minecraft set to screen.
Summertime Cinema is part of the Shire’s commitment to creating vibrant, accessible community events that bring people together to enjoy the Perth Hills lifestyle.
