Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to make our community a better place?
Nominations are now open for the 2027 Shire of Mundaring Australia Day Citizenship Awards. These awards recognise the individuals and groups who help make our community stronger, more connected and more inclusive through their dedication, volunteerism and service. They celebrate people who have made an outstanding contribution over the past year or who have given exceptional service to the community over many years.
The 2027 award categories are:
- Junior Citizen of the Year (up to 15 years) – recognising young people or groups who, through their volunteering activities, have made a meaningful contribution to the local community.
- Young Citizen of the Year (16–30 years) – celebrating young people or groups who have made a significant contribution to the local community.
- Inspirational Volunteer – honouring individuals or groups whose volunteering efforts have made an outstanding impact on the community.
- Access Mundaring – recognising individuals or groups helping to create a more accessible and inclusive community.
- Long Service – acknowledging individuals or groups who have continuously served the local community for more than ten years.
Shire President Paige McNeil said the awards are an opportunity to recognise the people whose passion and commitment help make the Perth Hills such a special place to live.
"Our community is full of people who quietly give their time, energy and care to support others, strengthen local connections and make a genuine difference," President McNeil said.
"The Citizenship Awards are a chance to celebrate those contributions and thank the volunteers, community champions and young leaders who help our community thrive.
"I encourage everyone to take a few moments to nominate someone whose efforts deserve to be recognised."
Nominees must not have received a Citizenship Award within the past five years, and sitting members of State, Federal and Local Government are not eligible.
Nominations can be made online via the Shire website. To learn more about the award categories, eligibility requirements and nomination process, visit the Shire of Mundaring Citizenship Awards page.
