Sculpture Park Amphitheatre and Event Space Upgrade

Our Vision

The Sculpture Park Amphitheatre and Event Space Upgrade will transform Mundaring Sculpture Park into a vibrant, connected and welcoming community space.

The project will create a flexible park that supports everyday use while accommodating community events, markets, performances and cultural activities. It will strengthen connections across the site, improve how people experience the park and celebrate the unique character, stories and identity of Mundaring.

Through enhanced public spaces, improved infrastructure and new cultural elements, the project will create a destination where people come together to gather, explore and connect.

Why This Project Matters

Mundaring Sculpture Park is a well-loved community space, but it is currently underutilised and lacks the infrastructure needed to support a broader range of activities.

This project will improve how people move through and use the park. It will better connect key areas such as the playground, amphitheatre, Station Master’s House and Scouts Hall.

The upgrade will also support local events, tourism and community life. It will create a destination that encourages people to stay longer, rather than simply pass through.

The project is part of a broader vision to revitalise the town centre and strengthen Mundaring as a place to live, visit and connect.

What’s Planned

The project includes a range of improvements designed to enhance the functionality, accessibility and activation of Mundaring Sculpture Park.

Planned improvements include:

  • Enhancements to the amphitheatre
  • Improved accessibility and connections throughout the park
  • Upgraded landscaping, seating and gathering spaces
  • Infrastructure to support community events and activations
  • Lighting and public realm improvements to enhance the visitor experience
  • Better integration and connection between key destinations within the park
  • Public art, storytelling and interpretation elements that celebrate local heritage, culture and the natural environment
  • Integration of The Jarrah Leaf community sculpture, being delivered in partnership with the Mundaring Arts Centre, celebrating the stories of the jarrah forest and creating opportunities for cultural interpretation and connection to Country
The design is currently being refined following engagement with key users and stakeholders to ensure the space is functional, flexible and reflective of community aspiration

Community Engagement

Community engagement has played an important role in shaping the project.

The Shire has worked with key user groups, stakeholders and community organisations throughout the concept development process to better understand how the park is used and identify opportunities to improve connectivity, functionality and community use.

Feedback gathered through workshops and stakeholder discussions has informed the evolution of the concept design, which is now progressing through design refinement and technical planning. The project also continues to explore opportunities to integrate public art, cultural storytelling and environmental interpretation within the park.

Community members interested in receiving project updates and key milestone information are encouraged to register their interest by emailing projecthub@mundaring.wa.gov.au.
