Restricted Burning Period starts Monday 6 May

The shire will enter the Restricted Burning period from Monday 6 May. Permits won't be available, but conditions apply. Visit the Burning Periods and Fire Danger Rating page to read the conditions.

Prohibited Burning Period Extended

The Prohibited Burning Period for the Shire has been extended until Sunday 5 May. To stay up to date with Burning Periods, Fire Danger Hazards, Total Fire Bans and Harvest and Vehicle Movement Bans, sign up to the Bushfire Information SMS Tool. Internal Combustion heaters for home heating may still be used during the prohibited burning period.

Free Walking tour of a Recycling Facility

Join Recycle Right and EMRC Waste Educators for a free tour of the Resource Recovery Group's Canning Vale Centre on Saturday 4 May from 9.30am to 11am.

On the tour you will get to see:

FOGO Processing Facility (for food organics and garden organics)
Green Waste Facility (for bulk garden organics)
Material Recovery Facility (for kerbside recycling)

After the tour, participants can view the Education Centre and try a range of hands-on activities to test your knowledge in waste avoidance, correct sorting, recovery and recycling.

Registrations are essential for all attendees. Book now as places are limited. Book via the Humanitix website.

Tours are suitable for both adults and children aged six years and over.
