Saturday 17th October 2026
Give your bike (and your confidence) a boost at this friendly, hands-on community workshop. The Team from Hillside Cycles will help you get bike-ready and cover the basics of bicycle maintenance in a practical, easy-to-follow way. The session is designed to help adult residents feel more confident choosing cycling for everyday transport, especially for short trips around the suburban and village settings of the Perth Hills.
October is Bike Month, an ideal time to dust off the bike, do a quick check, and get set up for more short trips. Riding for transport is a great way to support your health and wellbeing, save on fuel, reduce transport emissions and enjoy a little more fresh air along the way.
No need to bring anything, we’ll have the basics covered. If you’d like a more personalised experience, you’re very welcome to bring your own bike so you can learn and practise on your exact setup. And if it suits you, why not ride to the workshop?
This workshop includes:
- How to do a quick pre-ride safety check
- Tyre care: checking pressure, fixing a flat, and when to replace a tube
- Cleaning and lubing your chain (without the mess)
- Brake and gear basics - what to look for and simple adjustments
- Common bike niggles and when it’s time to visit a bike shop
Workshop running at 9am, 10am and 11am
