The ceremony marked the beginning of a new Council term, with members taking the Declaration of Office before commencing their roles in representing the community.
The new Council includes Shire President Paige McNeil, Councillors Luke Ellery, Jo Cicchini, Toni Strutt, Ben Heptinstall, Matt Woods, Dave Grills, Prapti Mehta and John Daw.
The Shire also acknowledged outgoing Councillors Neridah Zlatnik, Karen Beale and Doug Jeans for their contribution and service to the community.
President McNeil said the new Council would continue to deliver on the community’s shared vision outlined in the Council Plan 2024–2034, which focuses on strong governance, sustainability, and the delivery of community facilities and services.
“Local government is where decisions are made that most directly affect people’s lives,” President McNeil said.
“It’s a privilege to serve our community and to work together on the issues that matter most, from protecting our environment to supporting local businesses and community groups.”
President McNeil said she looked forward to working with both new and returning Councillors to continue building on the strong foundations already in place, and that Council remained committed to delivering new and upgraded community facilities across the region, including the flagship Mundaring Cultural Hub project.
“This is an exciting time for our Shire,” she said. “We have a clear direction, a passionate team, and a community that cares deeply about its future. Together, we’ll keep making the Shire of Mundaring a great place to live, work and visit.”
“Thank you to everyone who voted and had your say, your involvement helps shape the future of our region,” President McNeil said.
Council will hold its first Ordinary Meeting under the new term in November, and a Special Council Meeting will occur on November 28 to elect the new Deputy President.
